 Whalen's
Horseradish was established in 1925 in
Ballston Spa in Saratoga County, New
York. Whalen's Horseradish continues to
be the best homemade, hand prepared,
coarse-ground horseradish commercially
available in Saratoga and the
surrounding areas.
Our horseradish roots come from a farm
in the reputed horseradish capital of
the United States, Collinsville,
Illinois. The horseradish roots are
trucked to us in 50-pound burlap bags,
dirt and all, in 1000 pound horseradish
root shipments.
Each horseradish root is washed, cut up,
peeled and imperfections are
removed--all by hand!
Due to the time and labor involved in
preparing our freshly ground horseradish
products, wholesale distribution of
Whalen's Horseradish is limited to a
very few select deli's, quality meat
markets, specialty shops, and
well-established restaurants in Saratoga
Springs and the Capital District area.
Since we do not have a retail store, our
main source for distribution of our
horseradish products is through Whalen's
Horseradish online store, mail order,
Craft Fairs, and local distributors. Our
holiday and special occasion horseradish
gift packs have been a big hit for those
looking for an unusual and delicious
gift idea.
We know that horseradish lovers will
agree that our hand-prepared products
will have a fresher, more pungent taste
and much longer shelf life--once
opened-- than our manufactured
horseradish competitors. All of our
horseradish products must be
refrigerated to maintain their pungent
taste.
